We Have Ceilings in the Bedroom!!!

Nearly three years after buying the house - and about two years after taking down the drop ceiling, we finally got a new smooth drywall ceiling in the master bedroom. And of course, we couldn't leave it at that. Rob cleaned up the baseboards, I repatched some of the walls, and we both put up a new fan. It took only two weeks (or so) but we finally moved all of our stuff back in.

Beautiful Bathroom

The tile guys finished this week. The bathroom looks clean and fresh. The tiles and tub are nice and bright white. Who knew our bathroom could look so clean? But for us, the best part isn't necessarily the beauty, but the new shower head now allows us to have normal water pressure in the shower. It is the most wonderful thing to ever happen to this house. :)

No more apologizing for the appearance of the tub, or the water pressure. Don't all jump at once, but we are now taking reservations for Hotel Mt. Sandler.

The rock

Here it is!

This is the spot on the Allegheny River where we did the deed. (It was a lot sunnier yesterday.) We turned and looked at the city and the fountain that is just out of the picture, off to the right.

Unfortunately, Rob didn't notice that behind us on the riverbank were a bunch of porta-pottys for all the spectators who were in town for a bass fishing tournament. So we kept looking toward downtown.

We went back today and took some pictures in front of Mr. John. (How the heck do they make porta-pottys that flush??)

New Windows, Same Old Bathroom

Contractors came today and replaced the windows in the bathroom, kitchen and the master bedroom. They look really nice and so much better than the old windows. Of course the real test is when winter comes - will they keep us warmer?

The tub/tile contractor also came today. They did some work, decided there was more than they expected and left. But when I called, as directed, to reschedule it made even less sense on why they couldn't do it today. Rob and I will figure out what works for us and reschedule the tub/tile work. But for now, I can use the bathroom and at least there is a nice new window.

Walls and Windows

The bathroom walls are finally painted. And the contactors come on Monday to replace the old window and glaze the tub and tile. We can't wait to see how it all turns out. For old time sakes, here are some pictures along the way. And we'll post pictures after they are done with the new work.

We are also replacing the two windows in the master bedroom and the window in the kitchen.

Finally Done (well kind of)

After more than two years of pulling down paneling, chipping off glue, putting up drywall, installing molding and painting everything but the floor, we are finally done with the living and dining room. We can now officially call them rooms and not a construction zone.

It's so nice to come into the house and not immediately see something that needs to be removed, primed, painted or paid for. We are even considering a new TV to match our new rooms - of course, we've been talking about a new TV for a few years now. We'll probably make a decision in a few years. We'll let you - our adoring audience - know -- stay tuned. :)

Smokey Update

More than a month after he got sick - Smokey is finally doing better. The vet took the tube out on Friday and besides needing to take care of the hole left behind by the tube, Smokey is back to being Smokey - just a few pounds lighter. He's a bit more than 18 pounds, and the vet gives him a clean bill of health.

He is eating happily again and driving us crazy for water (as he had before). Not an ordeal that anyone planned, but glad we went through it and Smokey came out ok.
